Stretching Beyond The Data Comfort Zone

During a webinar titled “Is Your Data and Risk Strategy Enabling You to Take on Risk Contracts?” SCIO’s experts explored how healthcare organizations can go beyond simply relying on claims data – and tap into a broad array of data sources to gather insights on patients and members.

The webinar also provided participants with the opportunity to chime in on how their organizations might go beyond the expected and leverage other data sources to meet a myriad of challenges. The following was uncovered via opinion polls conducted during the webinar:

1: Data Sets In Use

The good news, according to the poll respondents, is that many organizations are moving beyond claims data. In fact, the largest number of respondents is using social economic and EMR data in addition to claims data. Even as many organizations are using this richer set of data, almost one-quarter of the respondents are still just relying on claims data to gather insights.

2: Additional Datasets Available At Point Of Care Add Value For…

The value of alternative data is also widely recognized. In fact, more than three quarters of the respondents indicated that the alternative data added value to patients, providers, ACOs and health plans alike.

These poll results offer insight into how organizations are using various data sources to gather insights on patients and members. What kind of data sources is your organization using?
